A new release of of the FreeBSD operating system is available: 8.1-RELEASE
Hot features include:
– ZFS version 14
– zfsloader (boot from ZFS disks, mirror and raidz)
– NFSv4 ACL (Access Control Lists) support in UFS a ZFS
My work on this release:
– update of ZFS to version 14 and a lot of bugfixes
– improved ZFS L2ARC, prefetch and extended statistics
– integration of the xz compressor into the base system
– support of Kerberos authentication via PAM without the need of a local user entry
